Changing room and shower refurbishment at college
Overview
Focus undertook the remodeling and refurbishment of the Sport Hall Changing, Shower & Washrooms at one of Herts leading independent schools, Bishop’s Stortford College.
-
The project reconfigured 4 changing rooms and a laundry room into 2 pupil changing rooms, 1 staff changing room and toilet, and a laundry area within the staff area.
As the showers were to be for both Male and Female pupils, the client requested self-contained showers, off the corridor, so they were accessible to all and we made sure they were in line with shared facilities regulation.
-
The project started with the demolition of all the existing walls and rebuilding of the partition walls. This was followed by electrical works, new air extraction being fitted and ceilings.
For the walls, hygienic wall cladding was installed as it is an easy to clean surface and for the floors, non-slip vinyl flooring was laid.
Existing appliances were worked into the laundry room design but we added a laundry sink set up. We supplied and installed all the washroom sanitaryware, dispensers, changing benching and also fire doors for the entrances to the rooms.
-
One small challenge during the project was that the sports hall was in use during some periods of the project due to a holiday summer camp, so our team had to be careful when operating.
There was also a fairly tight running time to get finished before the students got back from holidays.
-
Overall, the client was happy with the finished areas and we are looking further to working with them on future projects.
