Changing room and communal showers refurbishment at leisure centre
Overview
Fusion Lifestyle manages several leisure centre sites across England and Wales including Herons Leisure Centre which is situated in the seaside town of Herne Bay.
The works undertaken at Herons Leisure Centre were extensive, involving a full refurbishment of the wetside changing area with 42 changing cubicles replaced, 2 washrooms, 1 accessible washroom, a locker corridor and poolside showers refurbished.

The project started with a strip out of the rooms and commencement of the new installation with plumbing, the tiling of walls and new suspended ceilings. Existing floor tiles were kept. Then new cubicles, IPS ducts and vanity units just in the washrooms were installed along with a new curved corian vanity area in the changing room. The rooms were completed with appropriate sanitaryware and fittings.

As the leisure centre was still in live operation for the duration of the project, we completed the refurbishment in two phases to minimise disruption and ensure the centre didn’t have to lose any business. This meant we had to board off part of the main changing room, safely managing the refurbishment whilst the leisure centre’s customers continued to use the facilities.
One particular feature of the project was the curved corian vanity units – these were bespoke made to fit along the curved wall.
